What Do I Need To Do To Spray Engine?

hey everyone

i was wondering what the process is, before spraying the engine, like do i need to spray a primer or sand the engine down first or?

any pics of engines which have been sprayed will be much appreciated

firstly what exactly are you painting? If you're refering to the valve cover then you need to remove it and have it properly degreased, then stuff the plug holes with newspaper and tape any area you want to be unpainted, then use a heat resistant engine spray paint and apply several layers allowing each to dry to touch. After drying simply unplug the holes remove the tape and reinstall. The engine in my sig is one that I did, in that case I applied the paint thick and replace while not completely dry and started the engine, the result is the paint baked and wrinked giving it a powder coated OEM look
