3s-fe swap to 3s-ge does seem like a lot of hassle for a 30-35 hp gain

....and the recommendation is usually not to bother swapping for a 3s-gte engine either, as its easier to buy a GT4....so, not for the first time on here I think the advice is going to be - look out for a nice GT4 (if you can afford it!)

It will go in yes, but it will cost you...

Got to remember the brakes and suspension will have to be done also

If you still wanna do it, good luck

Its no that bad really is it ? 20-25 sensible driving mpg i heard :)?

I'm more worried about buying one that hasnt been raped and i point blank refuse to pay over the odd's. I've seen two very similar WRC's - both white one with 105k - £3495 and another with 86k - £5995......now thats a big difference in price !!!! I would have had the one i showed on here the other day but a guy had put a deposit on it already :(

Thx Guys. It seems like it maybe a fair bit of $$$$$$ for a GT4 and although i'd love to say thats the option, unfortunately i dont think i can stretch it that far. The main reason for askin is i have seen a 3s-ge engine goin for around 350 to 500 quid so that could be an option if there isn't too much else involved. The car i have is in really good condition just needs some grunt.

I think the main problem will be spending as much as i can afford on performance , someones gonna have to give Adams 4 a run for its money .......

Anyway back on topic LOSE THE 3SFE...they suck :(

Getting back on topic the 3sfe and 3s-ge are roughly the same block with a different cylinder head. For this swap I am positive that you need to modify the wiring lume to account for the dfferent sensors the 3s-ge engine uses, if you need a different ecu this will add to the complication.

If it was a straight swap then it woudl ave been done many many times, but it's not done often. I think you would be better having a look at the 3s-ge engie fitted to compare with your 3s-fe before you start hauling out the unit.

My 3s-fe does 37 mpg (on a m-way run) and I am not changing it, would I like more power, sure but it aint worth the hassle. I am affraid I would add to those who say sell the 3s-fe and buy the model you actually want, and I am perfectly happy workign on cars. I've recently finished a mondeo v6 2.5 auto engine and box out to swap the box. It was a hell of a work but all straight forward, no lume stuff, no changing of the brain etc etc.

But at the end of the day it's yours and if you are capable then do what u like, but if you are paying someone else to do it, set a budget with a generous contingency.

And do let us know how you get on

think i've made the decision to keep my 3s-fe. I know it's never goin to rumble with the big boys but hey it looks great and drives great other than the lack of grunt. I'll probably do what all others before me have done and do all kinds of small mods cos i'm a proud celica owner. Things like stainless steel exhaust, maybe remap, lowering springs etc. I know some people will say i need mental help but at the end of the day it's the fun of tinkering to finding extra bits you can get out of your car for your money. Oh yeah and watchin people drooollllll when they look at ur car. I still get that grunt or no grunt.

Cheers for ya thoughts

thats well said actually...at the end of the day if youve got a nice looking car and your proud of it spend some cash on it and make it look nicer and sound better..

and while i cant afford a mr2 turbo or a gt4 im going to stick to my cars and just do lil mods to them such as a exhaust and inductions kit just to get a nice noise.. i love my mr2 and celica and while ove got them im going to enjoy them.

also i got to respect my age only being 18 and havin a turbo is a lil crazy so i should reallly gain my experience with both cars...

eventually i will get a mr2 turbo or a celica gt4 but when i know more about them and definatly know i can run one with all the other costs i have..

so im just going to enjoy mine and work on them and see the outcome.. ;)

anyway ill shut up now :!Removed!: :!Removed!:
