What injectors are they using.

The 5e-fhe should have browney-red 225cc injectors

Paseo injectors are pink in colour and are 195cc (the engine also has lower compression ratio and less good cams)

I would try fitting the old 5e-fhe distributors assuming the mechanic hasn't thrown them away. Get the cams out of the old engine as they're worth keeping (i have a buyer for them)

I've seen this several times on Seras which have 5e-fhe but for various reasons have had 5e-fe Paseo engines fitted. 15 minute fix and not a full engine rebuild.

I have a set of 5e-fhe injectors if you need them
