Trackdays

Anybody been on a trackday with their CTS, or any other Toyota for that matter?

I need a day behind the wheel with no grandad drivers on the road. Just clear road so I can give this thing a damn good thrashing!

Just wondering for those who have done a trackday

1) who did you go with and how much was it?

2) Do you need to take out insurance?

3) and did you have a good day? and was it safe?

My question for the CTS lot, is how did you find the CTS did it do ok?

I've been to Castle Combe, Silverstone and Donnington when I had my 2, Bookatrack are well known for running responsible trackdays and take great pride in safety...

One of the Spanish Corolla Members posted some vids of his CTS on a spanish track not so long ago :D

As for insurance it's up to you, it's not normally a requirement but it depends what sort of person you are, if you can control your driving to be on the border of your limits and not go to far beyond them you'll be fine...

Of course it's a very expensive mistake if something goes wrong wihtout it...

I went to Bruntingthorpe with mine earlier in the year. It isn't highly-tuned for the track as the suspension is a little soft and the stock tyres are not that great. It is still a quick car, though, and you will have to do something really silly to have an accident.

Brilliant fun, I would recommend it to enthusiastic drivers whatever car you have.

TOC.

2) Do you need to take out insurance?

We didn't need to and I decided that it wasn't needed.

3) and did you have a good day? and was it safe?

Yes, really good day out. Also well organised and I thought safer than the public roads in many respects. Didn't see anybody driving in a manner likely to endanger themselves or others.

The CTS does just fine. I couldn't keep up with the MR2 turbos on the straights but nonetheless one of the tubby drivers told me getting past was harder than he thought it would be

Did find this website. Javelin Trackdays

They seem to be pretty good on price! I'll defo look into them others you suggested. Would be a good event and it would be great to get some other Toyota owners down not necessarily CTS. Have a Toyota day out hey!!

With Trackdays price is far from everything, it is worth spending a little bit extra and go with a reputable company. The cheaper companies usually allow extra carsw on track and are not as strict with the rules, eg no overtaking on corners which means you are more likely to have an accident even if its not your fault.

I would strongly recommend going with a company which has been tried and tested such as bookatrack mentioned earlier on...
