Apologies for the lengthy post, but here goes...

In September 2005 I purchased my 04 T-Sport, inside of two weeks it was back in the garage for them to look at the VSC light problem. In the first three months they had it for five to six weeks, ascertained that the ECU was faulty, and over the next few months it was in another four times. The problem was never cured, although I did like the free mats and boot liners, which culminated in them changing the tyres (free of charge) with the assertion that the new rubber would somehow cure an ECU fault??

Now perhaps they thought the free kit would placate me, and it was their choice to lavish such items on me, but we all know the cost of these cars, and I was more than miffed with the situation after lashing my hard earned into this motor. I wasn't happy with this so I took up the matter with customer relations and after a few weeks had a call from the dealer saying let's get this car sorted out once and for all.

The problem then was that I'd moved to the other side of the country and it wasn't feasible for me to run the car over to have them look, so I requested that they arrange for a local dealer to look at it, which has taken a further two months!

Anyway, the local dealer took the car yesterday, and has just called to say that in order to road test it, he's going to have to put in £10 of fuel and charge it to me!

I find this quite unacceptable, not to mention cheeky, given the length of time I've been struggling to have the car repaired within the manufacturers warranty period.

Now I'm basing this on the fact that my original dealer road tested the car at his expense, and I know it's only a tenner, but what about the principle? The garage carrying out the repair know about the hassle I had regarding the time taken etc, and they're apologetic about charging me, cannot charge it to the original dealer regardless of the fact that they simply didn't change the ECU and it's partly down to them that I'm in this situation now.

So the question is, should I just resign to it and put up or shut up? Or stand my ground and make the point?

Thanks for any input you may have.

Cheers.

hi,

i had loads of warranty work done on my cts , all started within 2 weeks of ownership.

i had a new ecu, new alarm ecu, rear discs & pads, new clutch, new gearbox bearings, electric window motor, aux belt tensioner, drivers seat repaired and loose fitting stereo corrected... they seemed to have the car more than myself.... and i was very p***ed off at the time.

i never got given any gifts off them to keep me happy... they must like you....

as for the fuel issue... unless you dropped it off to them totally empty , there will be plenty in the tank to test drive it. how far have they gotta go to need £10 worth? 50 miles?

if they do put £10 fuel in, the chances are you will get most of it back when you collect the car?

i would just pay the money and get the car sorted..

i was always supplied with a courtesy car that had at least half a tank of fuel for me to use and not replace, which is fair really.. some garages check the level and make you return it at the same level.

bert

Cheers Bert,

Good to know (not for you at the time though) that your problems are sorted now.

Anyhow, it still aint repaired as the ECU has dumped the fault code so I have to back again, next time...
