Well, the car sold on eBay last night.

Got the reserve I'd asked for, and being completely honest with the history of the car, I'm very pleased I got it.

New owner is hoping to pick it up Friday, so now the real search is on for it's replacement.

It's not a Toyota though... ;)

Don't worry though - you won't get rid of me that easy. :D

Always had a soft spot for the T5 mate - ever since I took a hire one down from edinburgh to portsmouth ... proving the fact that there simply isnt anything faster than a hire car!

Indeed. It's a car I've wanted since passing my test.

A huge barge of a thing, but they do shift!

Got loads of performance upgrades as standard though - so they handle surprisingly well as much as they go.

Didnt they invent a special floating brake caliper for them? And ... they can be mapped up to some ridiculous level too.

Not sure on the calipers, but I know the 97 onwards ones had a "floating" rear suspension, supposedly capable of carrying very heavy things, and very silly speeds, without the driver ever knowing!

Bolt-on tuning boxes can easily see 300bhp.

However, the sad news is, my hunt for a T5 is over. :(

Trying to find one still in good nick is proving very hard indeed, so the sensible cap is on, and I'm on the hunt for an S40 at present.

Something a lot newer, with some more creature comforts...

If it makes you feel any better I had two T5's and they ate tyres (less than 10k for front pair so serious rubber costs even though i wasn't paying for them and brakes took a hammering (went through 4 sets of disks in 70K) so remember they make a lot of money from spare parts lol.

Yeah, that's the only real downer for them.

That'd be a pair of fronts once a year for me, and 4 sets of discs in 7 years!

:o :D

Still, looking at an S40 tomorrow in Derby. Looks clean, low mileage and a good price, so finger's crossed!

Good luck with that, if it's the right car I'm sure you'll know, if it's not you've still got the bike
