Lol i do engine brake quite a bit but i also brake before accelerating as if im going for it i brake hard in straight lines but then want maximum acceleration so i add some revs to remove engine braking so i can accelerate properly round a corner.

You mean you goon it into a corner, slam hell-on on the anchors, mash the accelerator mid-corner and worry about the gears/engine speed later? Sounds sensible.

All gear work and braking is done BEFORE the corner, judge the speed you'll require, match the engine speed to the torque band for acceleration out of corner, turn and complete manouver. The exit speed is far more important than the entry speed... try not to upset the cars balance mid-corner and never touch the accelerator until you know you don't have to take it off.

Anyway remember someone else owned the car before me and its now just done 50k with no history of the discs being replaced/skimmed as far as i can see so surely that aint too bad?

Mine's done 56k and the discs are only half worn. And thats mostly town driving. Only one set of pads at 40k. And i don't drive like iv got a heart condition. My last car had 33k miles on it before even a tyre was changed! That's how you should be driving in your tender years... any of the 'older' guys will tell you that... iv not been driving long, but iv damn well learned quick... miles under belt does that and having to pay for things certainly opens your eyes.

Yeah the braking before ending corners is what i said/meant  I don't pretend to be an expert but you learn by practise :) I have tried to do as many miles as i can to try and get experience! Yeah the discs should be ok for a while it's just my dad pointed them out to me, turns out they don't need replacing for a while as they just had a lil lip and are legal. Thanks for concern anyway :)
