OK most of you know that when it comes to me and my KITT, I am not all the clued up on names of bits and pieces ect. (but I am still learning) :D

So here we go.... what size is that nut that goes into the hub on the wheel that has a split pin in??????? coz me is having a lot of trouble trying to find the correct size.

Two different size nuts, 1 goosed tyre and another goosed tyer in the making and still no luck.

The other 3 nuts fit, but this one is a pita.??????

Am I making any sense ???

if the car has ABS it should be a 30mm hub nut ash :) best off takin the nut with you to make sure though.

if not it will be smaller, not sure what size.

 He don`t mind. Makes him feel wanted.

I could rob a bank to feel Wanted !

Admittedly it's not legal to do so , but it would be exciting and a lot more fun than spending all my freetime lying under a Celica in the rain ! :help:

Dan. You ought to recheck it. It`s not unknown for the driveshaft to shear if the nuts been overtightened.

Ok folks.......further investigation shows that the nut fitted to the hub isn't the right one ! it's a loose fit on the thread, the wrong shape and appears to be made out of Brass and therefore not upto the job.

A quick measure suggests that the thread is the same as on my Sera, but I'm fairly reluctant to take bits off my car to fix a problem someone else created. AND there was no split pin fitted !!!!!!

So, to save my poor Sera ( and my sanity ) does anyone know the thread size for this. I'll pick one up tomorrow and fit it - hopefully that should do the job.

cheers ( and sorry for being such a pest ! )

Rich

22mm dia with a 1.25mm pitch rings a bell but i cant confirm that. It might be me Rover one.

Mr T should have one on the shelf.

My Mr T doesn't have much on the shelf !!!

I ordered the right one from them today - AND a new castle/cover thingy that goes over and locks it ( YES , that wasn't even fitted ). They'll be here tomorrow morning. £3.00 for the pair.

When I got to look at it there were still a couple of thread turns visible, so no big worry

Didn't even have the split pin fitted .

Well,

got the nut and castle cover from Mr T today..............and the nut was far too big !!!! :censor:

Fortunately (?) the one I needed is the same as the ones on my Sera, so I took one off that to fit to the Celica. It's all back together now, I'll take it for a spin later.

I'm really sick of this car !!!

Once again the Sera sits in the garage in pieces due to this Celica.

Any ideas what my New years resolution is going to be??

( Clue........Ash probably won't like it ! )

Correct ( as in Yes, you're wrong ! ! )

If I was to get a Celica it'd be a Gen 4 - but I've already got more cars than I can drive .

If I was to get another vehicle it'd have 2 wheels - not 4.

Sounds like you`re in the same position as me Rich. Too many vehicles not enough time. I`ve got a 5 series Beemer and a Merc 190 that i`ve not driven for over a year. The Celica came out twice in the summer and i got to ride my bike four times this year. I`m not even going to mention the pushbike..... oops i just did.

Ok update. The wheel is on but the noise is still there.

Now that the wheel is securely on the car with no fear that it will fall off, I went to my local garage and asked him to have a look at it so off comes the wheel .................. the disk falls off the car and on to the floor.......(dont think it was meant to do that). :crybaby: The chap that fitted the last new bearing charged me £95 :(

The outcome is, the bearing was too big for the job and grinding on something that it wasnt supposed to be grinding on. :crybaby: So car is in garage overnight waiting on delivery of new bearing (the right size) in the morning. New bearing is £20 plus labour = £30 all in.

I really hope that this will be the end of the KITT saga...it has really been getting me down and I hate having to ask Rich to help out every time. :( :shutit:
