when I got my Avensis the door strips were a bit tatty and Mr T kindly ordered me a new set of door strips for me.

I don't know the code, but I'm sure you can order a set from the Toyota dealers. Failing that have you tried eBay? you may get lucky.

Toyota dealers only i'm afraid Ive just bought a set for my 98 2.0 gls hatchback avensis.

If toyota fit them it's £250 and yes they are only available as a full set.

I'm going to fit my own which brings me to my question.

What is the usual method of removing the left over sticky stuff from the original ones ??

Toyota tell me that it is most important to clean the old adhesive foam off as the new ones will peel if not stuck to pristine paintwork !

Any advice would be greatfully recieved.

Thanks Duncan

I bought a set of those from my local Toyota dealer for 119€. If you need it only for one door, it cos't 109€.

i was once told that WD40 dissolves glue, but whether i would risk trying this on my paintwork? i dont know.

Turps substitute or white spirit on a rag will do it.

You will also find that the adhesive in the residue will soften/weaken if you heat the area up with a hairdryer.

Thanks for the suggestion I'll let you know how it goes !

seen it been done before in a toyota garage.they were using a ,what semed like a rubber wheel on a drill.and it was lifting the glue right off.

now you got me thinking maybe a polishing pad on a dremel dipped in turps might help keep the overspill down

In finland they use the same kind on "wheel", only it smels like toffee... :P It's made for that sole purpouse.
