Hi,

I am a bit confused, can i use a 4e-fte from any year Startlet GT in my 1997 Paseo. Do i need to use a EP 81 or can i use any, this is the only part i am not sure of, do they all use the same mount, i can get an Engine from a 95 Starlet GT, is this just a straight swop. :D

Thanks

You can either use the EP82 4E-FTE 1989-1996 or the EP91 4E-FTE 1996-1999 as the basis.

The engines themselves are virtually identical, but the wiring and engine management systems are slightly different.

In a starlet they all use the same engine mounts but on a Paseo you have to alter at least one mount, possibly re-using one of the Paseo mounts rather than the starlet mount.

ECU's were either 2 plug or 3 plug ecus, I beleive on a Paseo you'll end up doing quite a bit of re-wiring, so its choose which you need based on least work re-wiring (I can't help with that, sorry) apart from referring you here http://www.omicron.uk.com/sera/forum/index...&hl=pinouts

I had assumed i had the same engine managment as the EP 91 as i have a 97 Paseo and i read that the Engine Managment System in the Paseos changed in the MK 2 Paseo, the later 96+ ones as far as i know. Is there any change it's a straight swop :-) I could change the engine but car electrics, not my thing.

Well you want to choose the ECU which is as close to the current wiring as possible.

EP82 - 2 plug ECU 26 pin + 16 pin

EP91 - 3 plug ECU 26 pin + 16 pin + 12 pin

Find your ECU and check plugs.
