Parts File

Not sure if people are interested in this idea and whether it has been done before.Does anyone have the knowledge on how to create a TOC celica parts file to add to the pinned topics. I have had to do so much research on even basic parts for my Celica because parts are either listed as carina or just not listed. Even things like spark plugs. Maybe it would make sense to have a file where we can add the part codes for particular parts for each model celica. perhaps it would be very useful for old and new members alike. Just a thought.

Cheers

It's an idea we implemented on the Sera forum earlier this year and it works really well.

It would have to be fairly structured to accomodate all the celica generations ( a Sera is a Sera....end of ! ) but it's very beneficial when it's done.

Anyone else have any thoughts on this??

We would need someone willing to put up their hand to set this kind off file out so that members can add info as it comes to hand. I for one would have found it beneficial already and would imagine i would continue to find it helpful in the future. Any takers with the knowhow off how to implement this??

The way it would work is quite labour intensive. I don't think it's possible to create a post that everyone can add to/edit ( like a WIKI ).

The way we did it for the Sera was somebody started a thread after searching the entire forum for part numbers etc. They then listed them all in a post, sectioning bodywork, electrical, running gear etc. People replied to the post just like a normal thread, adding any numbers they have collected whilst owning/working on the cars. The thread was pinned by the moderating team and pruned/updated periodically !

It's something that's beneficial, fairly easy to set up but does require maintenance to prevent looking through endless pages of numbers to find what you're after - although even in an unkempt state all of the numbers are still in one thread.

My only concern is the amount of sticky threads you already have here on the Celica forum. In saying that though, There's always room for one more if people think it's going to be useful.
