Only clues I can give is that the Aygo is definitely not deadlocked and that the locks are not 'shielded'...

Are there any aftermarket products to reduce this problem?

Just discovered this worrying fact this morning when I went to start my Aygo, that 'scroates' had managed to open the driver's door, activating the alarm and allowing them entry to steal worthless copies of CD's and and a gym bag (in the boot), without so much of a scratch anywhere!!

A friend in the 'know'... he's a mechanic not a thief..btw...lol, tells me that alarmed or not thieves can open the door quite easily without so much as smashing any glass or damaging any locks.! He explained how but I'm not going to reveal ! :o

Anyway, I thought all you Aygo owners ought to know! :(

Update : A friend whose 2 month old brand new Aygo suffered a similar fate, today. No scratches or evidence of a break in or a scratch anywhere, but all the contents inside the boot was removed and signs that the thief had rummaged through the items inside the glove box- was there to be seen when my mate deactivated his alarm and it beeped twice which indicated to him that the car had been tampered with. Worrisome for you Aygo/107/c1 owners don't you think?

Has the 2009 Aygo got better security (deadlocks would be a good start)?

Any new Aygo owners out there?

Just don't keep anything of real value in the car. If there is nothing of value at least the Aygo does not get badly damaged and no harm done.

I thought everyone knew about things like the coathanger trick and other ways and means since the 1980's, why was so many surprised about this in 2006? Blimey, obviously never had an old Cavalier 1600L :D

At least you wont have to replace a broken window.

If I'm parked in a dodgy area or leaving the car parked for a significant amount of time a copper once told me to;

-leave my (empty) glovebox open,

-migrate all clutter bags or jackets to the boot

-wipe the sat nat sucker marks off the windscreen

-turn off any bluetooth devices

In the Aygo brochure there is the option of having a VSS Alarm System fitted (Thatcham 1 rated) any one done this..? or knows how much this would be.....

Mine cost £450.00 to install - arranged by Toyota before I collected my 06 car (now sold btw). It was a Thatcham 2+1 the best, sensors fitted under the bonnet and hatch glass plus all the added sensors inside the Aygo. Still didn't stop the scroates entering and nicking all the stuff in the boot.

PREVIOUS POSTER RE PUTTING ITEMS OUT OF SIGHT IN THE BOOT-TAKE NOTE. I guess if it's that easy to gain entry without a scratch, then 'HEY WHY NOT BREAK IN , OPEN THE BOOT AND SEE BY CHANCE IF ANYTHING WAS WORTH NICKING'. It obviously doesn't take more than 30 secs to get in! :D

There is no way to reduce the flaw in the Aygo security without making the car difficult to get out of in the event of an accident.

Please don't ask how to break into an Aygo- we don't want this information available or accessible from a public forum. Irony anyone? Let's not shoot ourselves in the foot.

Nevertheless, no, the above link is not how its done.

Pretty idiotic and stupid (Don't you think?), to put the link on a public forum like this for all to see including more wannabe car thieves around the world, who might find 'inspiration' after watching it on here, to now go out and 'do over' an Aygo??

Thankfully, it's been removed from here and it's also not the correct way either (or wrong way depending how you see it), for the Aygo!

It’s all on YouTube which I’m sure any wannabe car thieves would look there first anyway.

The bottom line is this, to stop the Aygo being opened with tennis balls or string in under 10 seconds it needs Dead Locks ... problem solved  Why Toyota haven’t fitted this basic security measure is beyond me.

One word:

COST

The Aygo isn’t exactly cheap! If I’m paying £8k + for a car I would expect basic security which would include deadlocks.

If there are any Aygo owners who feel strongly about the security flaw of this car, then they should write in or email the editor's office at 'What Car' and point them in the direction of this forum.

.....Perhaps maybe they will do an article and cause enough stink for Toyota/PSA to sit up, listen and eventually budge and fork out for the lock security modifications on the Aygo.

The "Deliberately Vague" PM doesn't help me at all.

I OWN A FRICKING AYGO. If this security fault exists I need to know exactly what it is, and how to properly protect against it.

Please do not expect to be told how to break into your Aygo on a public forum.

Maybe a trip to your local Toyota dealer will answer your questions about any potential security problems on your Aygo :)

I superglued all my doors and cut off my door lock button .. that will show those nasty villains !

Hold on, how do I get in the car now ?

Seeing as no one is giving anyone a PM over the security issue, I have a question.

If i knew what the security flaw was, could i fix it myself / make it harder to break in? or would I simply be looking at changing the locking system and / or spending big monies to fix the problem?

thanks
