Wheel Sizes

hello all, had my X reg avensis for 3 months now and can't help but think my wheels look really small under the wheel arches. They're 15inch so standard but I dunno most other Avensis I see the wheels seem to fill the arches more or am I going mad.

Is it ok to put 16's on or would that mess up the speedo or something?

I understand your problem. The original size is 195/60/15 for a 2000 Avensis. To my opinion this is too small for the wheel arches. I do agree some Avensis do look better then others.

I have been thinking about replacing them by 205/55/16 alloy wheels. This size is about 3% bigger than the original ones.

you should be able to get there or there abouts the same total wheel and tyre diameter by calculating the height of the tyre wall from the ratio of its width.

so

195 The tyre section width in millimetres

60 The aspect ratio in % (the height of the sidewall divided by the tyre's width)

you just need to make sure both combinations are similar or your speedo will be out.
