right iv called the rac while at work and the guy came out and said the rubber bush on the bannana super strut nearest the passenger is to blame so getting a lot of play on the wheel by moving it back and forth, and hence the knocking when coming on and off throttle. getting about 1/2 an inch of travel at the end of the link by the main connection. should i cry yet or is this not to bad a job?

well that defo sounds like fig 8 and lower arm, bannana arm will most likely be ok unless youve hit a kerb hard.

the job itself isnt to bad but the parts are expensive, your best bet is buy them new from TCB (toyota ceica breakers) they are the same as you get from mr T but a lot cheaper.

for the job you will need a large breaker bar, 22mm socket, 19mm socket, 17mm socket, large hammer and an assortment of usual tools.

they can be a bgger to get off (the ball joint into the hum on the lower arm in particular) but the job is doable

If it is the banana arm bush make sure they put it in the right way otherwise it'll break again 500 yards down the road.

Needs to go in from the top i.e. you have to drop the subframe down to put it in.

Not that difficult think it's about 14 bolts holding it on in total just make sure their all nicely torqued up when put back on.

Unfortunatley haynes deemed that we don't need a manual for our cars. Think there's a chilterns(spelling never way my stong point) one avaliable??
