I'm finally ready to get my stainless exhaust :yahoo:

it was between the mongoose and the xs power ones, and i think im going to go for the latter. Prob coz its abit cheaper. just wonder if any of you had bought one of these and what you thought of it.

Thanks

I can t speak for the actual exhaust system but Adam had some major issues with his XS bits and my manifold was a bit of a sod. :ffs: Have you considered a Scorpion exhaust. Generally better quality than the mongoose systems and possibly a bit dearer, but it don`t half make you smile when you start playing tunes.

Mmmm, That don't fill me with confidence hearing that.

Remember Adam saying something about xs power but could'nt remember what he thought of it.

Can't say ive seen any scorpion exhausts for the 4, where would be the best place to look Dak, or does anyone know of any other make that do them for the Gen5. Don't want too start paying stupid money for an exhaust tho.

Cheapest place i found so far is eBay and i've only ever seen these two on there.

Hmm. It would appear that they`ve stopped making them for the Gen 5 & 6 Celicas. Mine was already on the car when i got it. But the receipt says Larkspeed. Might be worth giving http://www.scorpion-exhausts.com/ a ring. They might have some old stock going cheap.

Or theer`s this Blue Flame jobbie on eBay.

Ironic this

Just noticed that my mongoose is blowing  although it is at the joint, so maybe the clamps rotted though- i hope ;)

Think you`ll find Dan that the mongoose joints are flanged. Unless it`s a slip on end can. So it`s possibly a gasket. Easy enough to cure if it is. Just dismantle it at the joint, get a piece of thinnish copper sheet, use the flange as a template and cut the sheet to size. Reassemble using exhaust jointing compound. Copper gaskets can be re-used a couple of times by simply heating them till they blue then allowing to cool. They tend to last longer than some of these new fangled compounded jobs.

Good advice mate, nice one  - but unfortunately on the St182 mongoose its a !Removed! annoying sleeve joint with a clamp

I remember when I "had it fitted" (back then I had no mortgage and all my time was spent in the pub, so payed someone to do it!) the guys struggled to seal it :( I'll clean it up and whip a new clamp on whilst its off the road with some lovely exhaust paste, and see if that nips it in the bud :) might actually get round to placing on my "spare" cat too ;)

think the four one has one sleve joint just before the front pipe. could be this or as has been said a gasket

Thaks for the advise you lot,

Just made my exhaust purchase and decided to go with the blueflame one. looks good, the price is right and it don't sound bad on the video clip, so roll on delivery day!!

I'll let you know what its like when i get it on. I'll have to take some pics when its done coz i been a member for a while now and i've not put up any shots of her yet.

How much it set you back? :)

£300 straight which i thought was a rasonable price. They say expect gains of up to 30bhp with no other mods, but we'll see. :D

Hope so.

well it does replace the stock front flexiy which in itself is very restrictive.under the protectice sheild its squashed down to about 1 1/2" across so the car will feel more lively and make boost quicker.

cant wait to see it fitted
