Vibrating Corolla

Hi

I have had my Corolla T2 for a little over 6 months now. When I bought it the mileage was 30,500 miles. I have to do a 60 mile round trip everyday back and from work and with other trips it is now on 42,500 miles. I have had the car serviced a little over a month ago. (there were a few probs but none of them serious according to Toyota. About a week after it had been serviced the car did something very strange.

I was out with my partner, we were doing 55mph heading towards Runcorn Bridge, suddenly what seemed like a very low hum and the right front side of the car started to shake somewhat. At that point we slowed down pulled over and found a small slash in the tyre wall. I got two new tyres on the front had them tracked and balanced and everything seemed great until last night. I was returning home on the M62 - I was doing around 65mph suddenly it started, very low hum shaking and shuddering seemed to be the front again however when i looked out my back window the whole car seemed to be slightly shaking. It is almost as if I had the car standing still in second or third gear and tried to pull away and it shudders like that. The only difference is I am in 5th gear doing 65mph. Usually if i press the clutch in and slow down to around 40mph it stops and then i can speed up and it is fine again.

I apologise for the very long post however I am unsure as to what the problem is and was wondering if anyone could help please.

Thanks

Hi there...

It seems that you should check your rear disks,or the handbrake at the mechanic cause I had the same problem and it was due to the adjustment of the handbrake...Check it out and let us know!

I would also check the tightness of the wheel nuts. They will have been torqued up at the garage but may have loosened off a bit. this may be the case especially if it was driving alright.

I was told that my brakes would need doing beofre the MOT next February however everything was great before the service and now it seems slightly off . Thanks for the comments I am going to check both of what was suggested and get back to you.

Thanks
