Question About Decat's

Recommended Posts

Going to get a mongoose for the new toy, and have a question for you!

As our old toy never had a cat fitted never knew what the differance was when we fitted the decat, as this one as one, can anyone who is using a decat tell us if there is anymore power (ish) & if it makesthe exhaust loader?

Thanks for any replys...Paul

Makes the zorst a little louder... I couldnt tell any difference in power when I had the cat taken off tho.

You'll notice the difference more with a turbo'd motor.

Big reduction in back pressure (which isn't necessarily a good thing for NA), and better flow. I noticed a quicker spool up time and boost increased slightly.

If I was to do it all over, it's the first mod I'd make.

Thanx Kevin

Won't get one with a cat, will save us about £90 :yahoo:

which means will have to find something else to blow it on :D

well, where is the powerband for the NA?

if its quite high then it will benefit from a higher flow exhaust as pressure is further brought down when more exhaust gas builds up at high revs.

In any way i would think that a gain in power is definitly there as it is part of the breathing for the car, it will also make the car run more smoothly as it were.
