Cold Weather Fuel Consumption

Since the weather turned colder a few days ago I have noticed that the fuel consumption on my T180 is worse by about 3 - 4 MPG.

Is this normal for a diesel as I have never noticed anything similar with petrol engines in the past?

It is probably normal. Have you noticed the quirky gauge though the one that takes 250 miles to go to half full and 100 miles for the second half of the tank?? Also, the range gauge is not too accurate....

Are you getting near the published figures?

hi

i had a similar problem...my fuel consumption dropped to 30mpg since the cold weather started and the coolant light wouldn't go out for ages.......the local dealer fitted a coolant temperature sensor under warranty and everything is fine now....back up to about 43mpg and that's with a lead right foot...pretty chuffed again now

hope that helps

spuggy, what engine do you have?

I would like to know any findings on this as we are only getting about 31mpg on a 2.0diesel in urban traffic and would have expected a lot more than this. The blue temp light is typically taking about 5-6 min to go off on ours aswell
