Parts And Worries?

I have a 1996 corolla xli. I know I can get parts in a scrap yard but the parts I need are hardly worth going to scrap for! I need a driver side Sun Visor. Is this specific to the '96 corolla or could I just go to a motor store and buy one to fit all?

I also need an external piece that fell off when I was driving. Its at the back of the car just under the left side lights. An L shaped strip that goes around the corner of the car. QUite small in size. Any advice?

My other worries are as follows. Since january, I've replaced my windshield(although the rubber along the top is now being held in place with duck tape!), my hand brake cable, my gearbox, my clutch, my timing belt, 2 cv joints and most recently the gear linkage cable after the plastic holder broke. I find first gear quite stiff at times, which it always was since I bought the car almost 2 years ago. I am worried that this contributes to the plastic breaking in the gear linkage cable? Any thoughts?

The car is due to be tested in February and I need it to pass.

With regards to your gear shift being stiff (for 1st gear) do you think it is the 'stick/shift' or the actual 'internals' ?

if it's the one I have an idea ;)

I'd also be wary about the fact that your windscreen isn't held in properly. Quite alot of the structural strength of your car is actually provided by the screen (approx 30% IIRC) so it's important that it's fitted correctly!

Thanks for the replies.

I'm not sure if it's the gear stick or the internals. If I was pushed I'd say it's probably internal. The colder the car is, the worse it appears to be. Sometimes I have to shift to second and then try to push up to first, if I am stopped at lights waiting to get out again. Occasionally, reverse is hard to get into also. The stick stops just short of clicking into reverse, but if I give it gas it slips into reverse then?

The windshield rubber came loose along the top in the middle. The rubber is pushed back into place alright and is being held there by the duck tape. I suppose I ought to get that fixed properly eh?
