Funny Noise And Tyres

Howdy,

Haven't had my car for long and it has been treated shabbily in the past, so I am trying to sort the poor cow out.

When I go over bumps, or brake over steep downhill bumps there is a scraping noise from the front which sounds like the tyres hitting the wheel-arches. Now, the tyre pressures are ok but I just checked the tyres and this is what I have: Front drivers side Semperit 205/60 R 15 91H, Front passenger side Pirelli 205/60 R 15 91V and both back tyres are matched but 205/55 R 15 87V.

These obviously need sorting out from a couple of points of view but my main question is; What size tyres should be fitted?

The front tyres look considerably 'balloony' compared to the back ones. Is the profile too high? Is that why they scrape when over the bumps?

OR

Is my front suspension dud? (No knocking, all smooth otherwise, just thinking about weak springs?)

Car is 1995 st202 import. Don't have any manuals or anything.

Any help?
