After seeking help on here a local dealer is now happy to supply and fit a replacement for light for my Aygo - BUT - look at the :censor: price quoted -

Hello there,

In answer to your question, yes the n/s/f foglight has been booked onto your booking for a 20,000mile service, the estimated price for the foglight kit is £166.36 inc VAT.

If you have any problems or queries than don't hesitate to contact me.

I'm assuming that the kit has a set of 2 in it for that price. - or the mechanic has lost most of his hand in a freak Blimp accident and works very slowly !

I got a pair of Gen7 Celica rear fogs from Toyota and that was about £120, although the lenses can be bought individually for a few quid.

If the kit contains 2 lights then make sure that you get the spare one. Should it happen again it'll save you a small fortune !

That's a very high price

With Winter well on it's way it's an essential piece of kit too.

I think the parts are just really expensive. even though its ment to be designed to be a cheap car. It cost me £146.26, about, to get my left hand wing mirror replaced.

Hmmmmm . . . I've challenged this price and given them the exact part number and they have responded saying that it is actually cheaper than they quoted but haven't given a revised price . . . . . will update when I hear more.

Well dealer has now come back to me with a price of £68 but wants a further £45 to fit - had a quick look and it does seem a bit of a mare to fit - looks like the front bumper has to come off but surely this can't be the process - what if you just wanted to change the bulb ?

Anyone . . . . . .

You dont have to remove the bumper at all, fit it yourself it isnt hard.

jack the car up so you can get underneath to reach behind the bumper (you may have to undo a few 10mm bolts to pull the splash shield out of the way if you cant reach.

Twist the bulb out of the foglamp and take the old broken lamp out.

Fit new lamp/bumper surround using the 4 screws. Twist the bulb into the new unit and refit the splash shield.

Hope this helps.

There's an Accesory Installation Manual (AIM) available for foglights, that might help too!

http://techdoc.toyota-europe.com/aim_mp.asp

  • click "Search AIM"
  • For "Vehicle" choose Aygo
  • Type "Fog" in the "Accessory Name:" field
  • click "->Search"

You need the "Fog lamps RHD" manual for UK,

the one with the bezel is for the TTE-grille...

Clicking on the magnifying glass opens the PDF in a new window.

These Mr T prices look kinda scary for what must be regular replacement items, glad you got one on eBay :) I presume they will be the same sort of prices if the worst happens on my T Sport. I suspect the bumper arrives on the production line with it all prefiitted to keep the asembly cost low and the fat margins for the dealers on replacements

OK all fixed now - £18 for the light off fleabay and £15 to local grease monkey to fit (I know I could have done it but I like the easy way out).

BTW - I have a red housing if anyone wants it as the eBay one was from a red car.
