Previa Alarm Problem

has anyone had any problems with the alarm/immobiliser on a 94 previa

every once in a while my previa wont start or turn over even though i have all the ignition lights up on the dash board. i know the alarm cuts off the starter circuit. it happened to my wife quite recently and all she did to make it start was to open and shut the door but she didn't notice if the alarm light on the dash was lit up or not.

any ideas ?

also does anyone have any idea what the average fuel consumption on an auto 2.4 94 previa ahould be ?
