Hi guys, this is my first post here. I'm looking to purchase a 4th gen 1986 model 2.0 GT Coupe Automatic I have seen for sale.. I love the styling of these cars :) i have a couple of Q's to ask before I go ahead and buy. How do these cars handle and drive? Are they durable? Has anyone had experience with the autos? How do they go compared to the manual model and what mpg can I expect. And is there anything specific I should look out for when buying a Celica of this age?

Cant comment specifically on the autos. But the gen 4 does have a reputation for being a bit of a rust trap. Check out the bodywork very carefully, especially lower panels and roof if it`s got a sunroof. These are virtually unobtainable. Good luck.

Oh, and welcome to TOC. :D

Welcome to TOC, dont see many 4th Gen Celicas these days!

What Dak said about the rust issue, seemed to happen with a few Toyotas around that time (AE92, AW11)

If you do buy it, get some pics up! :D

Love the Gen 4 shape, I love the way the back end curves in, and all round good looking car.

Good luck with the purchase...keep us informed.
