Marvins having his gearbox oil changed this weekend i have been told to use carlube 75-90 but i have noticed some of you use the synthetic oil. is the difference really that noticable? I havent purchased any yet just wondered what you thought

The synthetic maintains its properties better than mineral. With the added benefit it doesn`t thicken up so much when it cools down and doesn`t thin out too much when hot. Giving maximum protection hot or cold. Gearboxes are notoriously harsh on oil. Makes you wonder why they don`t change the oil more frequently.

It's also very important that you don't use a lower quality oil in the ST205 gearbox because it also fills the transer and front diff hence the requirement for API GL5 grade oil.

I use silkolene sync 5, covers grades for both gearbox, transfer etc and also rear diff

What ever you do don't use LSD oil for the rear diff... It's a torsen diff not plate limited slip diff
