Faulty Cd Player

My cd player seems to have packed up. When I insert a CD it just spins for a while then spits it out again.

Can I get this repaired or should I just replace it? Can I replace it with any double din unit or should I replace it with an original spec item to ensure correct fitment?

i had exactly the same problem with the sony double din unit in my avensis. The tape worked fine but first the cd skipped abit now it just starts making a noise. I couldnt find any one who was able to fix it so just eventually replaced it with a normal single din unit. You can fit any system into the slot as the brackets holding the original will screw onto any system. I also found it was muchh more expensive to buy another double din unit.
