Have you removed the air pipe and given the throttle body a good clean out with some decent carb cleaner spray?

It could be the throttle valve spindle is worn causing the valve not to seat properly  But.........

I`m thinking water temp sensor may be nadgered. It sends a signal to the ECU to weaken the mixture as the engine reaches operating temp. If it`s not working the car will run rich.

Also as mujaddid suggests. Cleaning any gunge out of the AFM and throttle body may help. Give it a go. Cheaper than a new throttle body.

Just a thought before you go any further. Have you tried disconnecting the electrical connector to the idle speed control (ISC) valve - It`s screwed onto the throttle body with four screws. If there`s no difference when thats disconnected it could be that or its gasket thats at fault.

Not sure if the throttle valve spindle is replaceable or not. It is on a lot of cars.
