I Love My Aygo But...

Desite parking my car in the driveway scummy scrotebag students have still managed to damage it thanks to someone thinking it's fun to play a "prank" turning my mirrors in, extending my front and rear windscreen wipers out, pushing my aeriel so it's pointing straight upwards....

Somewhere along the line the f**kwits must've stepped on my bonnet as there is a giant crack in the plastic where the passenger side washer squirter is and the squirter itself was hanging half out.

Unfortunately the old lady who lives in the house the driveway belongs to didn't see anything so it's safe to say it happened late at night when she was asleep. B@stards.

Going to phone Mr T and see how much this damage is going to cost me and considering it's the plastic along the top of the bonnet attached to the windscreen I can see it costing a fair bit.

Grrrrrrrrrrr!!!

It never ceases to amaze me how little respect people have for other's property.

The bf suggested calling the police but there's very little that they can do.

I'm sorry to hear that :(

Someone managed to put a big scratch on mine even though I parked in the car park far from everyone else when it was quiet.

Not fair is it?

Damn! I feel your pain...

I thought the front wiper could only be lifted a small amount,

maybe the plastic got damaged when they pulled up the wiper anyway, did you

check if the wiper is still allright? I can imagine that would be expensive too :(

Cant believe that, i hope they get run over!

The wiper survived surprisingly enough. It was the plastic around the squirter on the passenger side that got the brunt of the damage, most likely when the scum decided they needed to stand on it to reach the aeriel in order to pull it upright so it was pointing straight up.

The pic isn't the greatest but it shows the damage well enough - it looked worse when I first discovered it because the squirter was hanging out like an obscene popped eyeball. I bet any money Mr T probably won't have the part...

Yup...I hope Karma is going to be a complete !Removed! to them.

Never is. I've actually done a lot less damage to my car than I thought, not that I'm not a careful driver, just a bit clumsy at times as my left hubcaps will testify to!

:ffs: hearing things like this is so annoying, I wish the people that did this thing were found, chucked in Prison & the key thrown away.

Thanks guys for all the support. If luck passes my way and I ever find out who did this to my car you might not see me for a while as I may end up on assault charges!

Nah, but seriously, I phoned Mr T this morning and I'm taking it down to them Wednesday lunch time for them to have a look so they can tell me whether it can be fixed or not. I've got visions of a bill for £400-£500 coming my way! Hmmm...wonder if I can get it off my insurance...

Given that Toyota quoted me almost £900 to repair a scratch and slight dent, I expect you're in for a much larger bill.

My front Hubcaps are scratched to Hell! First couple of weeks I kept kerbing them

Dope eedjit!

When I take mine for it's 10k Service I'm going to ask for two new ones- see how much they are. Anyone know this?

Besides, the odd little mark here or there while getting to grips with your pride & joy is nothing compared to someone vandalising it  :(

I think the original hubcaps ar about £10 each

Really? Great!

I might buy a box of them- save me cleaning the brake dust off mine!!! Just replace them! :P

Just looked it up in my folders; €12,- each in the Netherlands, so I guess about £8,- in the UK

Probably more like £12 in the UK. We have a clever economy that doesn't need currency conversion.

Cost of something in Euros = cost in £

Cost in american dollars = cost in £

Oh, sure, it seems expensive, but it's so much less effort.

I might have to agree with Feldman in realtion to my hubcaps. Must remember to pick up a couple when I'm down to Mr T's. Didn't go today because frankly I didn't have the time and I'm completely up to my eyes. I'm off for a few days next week so do it then.

Oh and I discovered some w**kstain's gone and crunched into my car on Monday. It was parked in the street and someone had managed to completely dent the bump below the passenger side door, taking off all the paint down to the metal, couple of scuffed scrapes on the passenger door itself with a very light dent and a whack of paint off the wheel arch just before the wheel.

Of course there weren't any details left.

*sigh* I just don't have the energy left to be angry any more.

That's funny... I know that when I had my DeLorean I could order parts from the USA

in USD and those would cost the same in EUR after customs, shipping and tax :P

Guess that's what you get for living on an island ;)

You cold also concider fitting alternative hubcaps; the VW Caddy we've got

at work has caps fitted that only cost £2,- each and they don't look half bad!

Nah, I'm with Jan on this one & according to xe.com which is currency conversion site I use it says 12 Euro is around £8.

Angelic - :( I feel so sorry for you, I hope you dont have any more bad luck with it.

Well, I hope someone gets a quote from an actual UK dealer,

now I'm REALLY curious how much they will cost...

I used the (currency) convertor widget in Mac OSX's "Dashboard" BTW...

It's not just going to be down to the exchange rate, though :)

Remember, this is RipOff Britain :crybaby:

I'm on 3500 miles-ish now. If you all send me petrol money me and Hugo the Aygo will get up to 10,000 and end the suspense :D

Well guys I took the car down to an approved Toyota garage today and they gave me an estimate of just over £1200 to have the crunched passenger side fixed. They suggested that I put it through the insurance despite the fact that I have no details, no idea how it happened since I wasn't there and the simple fact that it didn't get reported to the Police.

Anyways, when I got home I phoned the insurance company and they are currently processing my claim and faxing it through to the garage. I'm not expecting a call within the next 24 hours to have this fixed.

Fingers crossed eh?

I bet any money it was one of the numerous construction crews working around this area responsible...

Eek, thats a lot of money. How much is your excess? Do you have protected NCB?

I work in Motor Insurance claims daily btw, so if you have any queries give me a PM

Thanks for the offer of advice :)

Thankfully my excess is only £100 which I can afford and I'm not worried about the NCP as this is my first car. When I phoned the insurance company they advised that as I don't have details of the other party involved it would be classified as a fault claim, however I can have up to 3 fault claims in the space of 5 years before it would affect my premium which isn't too bad. Though I don't know if that is the case should I move away from the insurance company to a new one when my year is up as I am within my year's free insurance period.

The car is being put in next Monday to get fixed as the whole passenger side door is to be replaced along with part of the sill and the whole back end is to be repainted.

They're actually REPLACING the entire door?

Must be some pretty extensive damage

then, can you post a couple of pictures?

I read somewhere the Aygo got low insurance premiums

because it was so easy to fix, i.e. you could replace only

the door skin instead of replacing the entire door...

Yeah that's correct about it being a fault claim, that is because there is no insurance company to reclaim the outlay (what they pay for your repairs) from. I don't understand how you can have up to 3 fault claims in the space of 5 years and it to not affect your premium? That sounds like it's along the lines of having No Claims Bonus protection - but most Insurers offer that only if you have 5 or more years of NCB and also it's usually two claims in the space of 5 years. Not that you are bothered as it's your first car, but I'd be more intrigued as to how that exactly works.

I have no idea, though they did ask me how long I had my licence for which is 7 years. I only work in the legal recovery side of insurance myself!

Damage was pretty extensive bump-wise. The sill below the passenger door was completely dented in with all the paint gone within the dent and a couple of shallow scrapes/dents on the passenger door itself. Though apparently whatever way they had gone into my car had set off the side impact bar to the point there is a subtle bump coming out of my passenger door...so rather than changing the skin they're changing the whole door and the back end towards the wheel arch needs undented and repainte too.

I was given a box on wheels aka Vauxhall Agila for my courtesy car. It was...interesting to drive but completely rubbish on the motorway. The clutch was a lot less sensitive than the Aygo, don't know if that's the car or it's just been broken in!

Anyways, the car has been in the shop since Monday and I should hopefully get it back by middle of next week.
