Hi,

I fitted a JVC KD-G612 CD player to my Ka last year which would remember what track was playing and where in the track it was when the ignition was turned off and resume playing from that position when the ignition was turned back on. It basically kept a record of where the laser should be on the CD even when the car was turned off.

However I recently had an aygo (great little car) which has a standard shape ISO connector (unlike the KA which I had to buy an adapter for) and fitted this same CD player to it but when the ignition is turned off it looses all memory of where it is on the CD and plays the CD from the start when the ignition is turned back on, its annoying to say the least. Basically what do I need to do to sort this out?

I have a vague idea of what I need to do but I'm not sure... I think I need to swap a cable or two over so that the Battery can supply power to the unit even when the engine is off. Ive had a look but i can't find the pin configuration for the cable coming out of the dash. Can anyone enlighten me on this or any other methods of sort this out?

Thanks.

The radio in the aygo is fitted wit ISO-connectors. There's

2 large ones with 8 pins each; one for power, one for Speakers.

They can't be swapped because of the locking-tab being positioned differently:

A-Block Power:

isoa1.gif

A1 = phone mute/tach pulse

A2 = remote/ground

A3 = remote

A4 = 12V permanent IN

A5 = 12V switched OUT (i.e. for antenna or amp)

A6 = 12V IN when lights on (for screen-light or dimmer)

A7 = 12V switched IN, powered with key in ACC or IGN

A8 = ground

B-Block Speakers:

isob1.gif

B1 = + right rear

B2 = - right rear

B3 = + right front

B4 = - right front

B5 = + left front

B6 = - left front

B7 = + left rear

B8 = - left rear

C-Block Auxilary

EDIT 27-11-2009:

I now know the C-block does NOT conform to the ISO-standard in ANY way.

You can NOT use the C-block to connect a subwoofer or amplifier;

use a sub or amp with high level inputs or put a line convertor in between...

The inputs can only be used by also connecting a proper data-signal, (like with a

changer or iPod-system) which is expensive, so IMHO not worth the effort...

C1 = line-out left rear +

C2 = line-out common ground

C3 = line-out right rear +

C4 = line-out left front +

C5 = antenna/remote +12V OUT

C6 = line out right front +

C7 = n/a

C8 = n/a

C9 = n/a

C10 = n/a

C11 = phone in +

C12 = phone in ground

C13 = cd id (data channel)

C14 = n/a (possibly control channel)

C15 = ground

C16 = +12V OUT permanent (feed for Changer)

C17 = +12V switched

C18 = CD-changer line-in ground

C19 = CD-changer line-in left

C20 = CD-changer line-in right

Note that even though ISO is supposed to be a world

wide standard, some manufactors choos to differ from them

(like VW/Audi/Skoda/Seat having the A4 and A7 signals swapped),

which I believe to be the problem for you too...

If you ARE going to swap leads, I suggest doing it on the harness for the radio,

not the one from the Aygo as the former is usually easier to modify and/or replace.

Thanks for your help. I have been looking for the ISO pinouts for a while but couldn't find them. Ill give this a good over the weekend. Hopefully its a straight forward swap. thanks again

On your wire harness the red and yellow wires should have plugs halfway between them to enable you to swap them. Just swap them and turn on the ignition then off again and then back on. If it saved your settings then you know they are the correct way round.

Ok, I had a look today and tried changeing the cables around but it did not work, to make things worse the aygo doesn't in my view use the standard cable colouring, so i got a little confused. I looked on my CD player and there is a sticker on there which shows what pins are for what, ive got an image of it below:

connector.PNG

These pins correspond exactly to the configuration and the wire colouring of the adapter I bought for the ka. So instead of fiddling around with the pins on the aygo I took the pins out of the adapter I had for the ka (specifically the male end which fits into the KA plug) and tapped them off with electrical tape since they were too long and could easily have shorted. This allows me to easily change the cables over without messing the Aygo pins up. They fit securely in place so I'm happy with it, i just don't know where to plug them into on the aygo, as i said the aygo doesn't use normal colored wires. They are coloured like so:

aygoConnector.PNG

I changed the red and orange wires but it didn't work, I'll try it again if it should have since i may have done it incorrectly. Its confusing working with lots of different coloured wires which dont match the ISO standards :P. What should i do?

You should swap red and yellow in your picture.

These are red and orange in my pic, or contacts A7 and A4 to be more precise.

On the Aygo Colors the Brown wire is Ground, Blue is +12V switched from the ignition,

Grey is +12V continuous (for memory) and the teal wire is +12V with the

lights on. This last one turns on the illumination on some radio's or dims it

on certain types with very bright displays so they don't blind you at night.

BTW, there is no real standard on those wire colors, however

the ones in the pic I borrowed do seem to occur most often...

Hi - so can anyone confirm, the aygo has standard ISO pin outs? If not, is there some sort of adapter I can buy?

Erm, call me mad, but Im positive that the standard aygo stereo remembers where I last was (what track and what postion on the track) ?

The Aygo DOES use ISO-connectors for power and Speakers.

Only thing you need to dow is swap the yellow and red leads

in order for the new radio to remember its stations.

The mini-ISO's are not usable for any non-Toyota applications.

Is there pinout or any other information available about those non-standard connectors?

I do have some limited info. What do you want to know?

I'm mostly interested to know if C block on Aygo HU is really functional and if its pinout is really how stated in ISO specs. I have heard rumors that despite being ISO-shaped it has different layout of signals.

And I;m also curious if Aygo HU supports AVC-LAN which seems to be used in other Toyota vehicles.

I can confirm that the C-block does NOT conform to the ISO-standard pinning.

AFAICT there are no audio-outputs supplied, only inputs. But the latter

only go active upon recieving a digital signal on a couple of other pins...

As for AVC-LAN, i'm not sure, but I don't think it supports this protocol.

I bought a service manual for the radio a while back,

but I'm not allowed to distribute it, so I won't...

Do You know if it is available anywhere - preferably in some internet shop?

I had to sift through my emails, as I DID buy it on-line...

The file came from http://www.getmanual.com

The radio you're searching for is a "Panasonic CQ-MS0570LC",

but you have to search without the brandname. Cost is $10.

If you use a Mac email them, as none of the available downloadmanagers

worked on my Mac; they then sent me an email with the file.

Good luck,

I got it. And manual states quite clearly that AVC-LAN is supported. Nifty. That means other changers, players, etc. made for recent Toyotas should work there.

I just opened up my manual again and you're right,

it's on the second page... Sorry for the confusion...

What kind of thingt might be used with this AVC-LAN?

A CD-changer and iPod interface are obious, as you can

buy them from Toyota, but what eles could be of use?

And would the (very limited) HU support other kinds of devices?

I need the service manual and ordered from the site.

How long did it take for you to receive the manual from the guy Alexey Malyshkov?
