Newbie - Rav4 Leather Interior

Hi,

I am a newbie to the club however have been a proud owner of a 2001 Rav4 for just over a year now. It's a NRG with high miles, but still going very strong. I have fitted a LPG conversion kit and am in the process of getting a new front bumper sprayed which will be fitted soon.

One thing I am looking for is a leather interior, as it is the only thing that the car is missing. Apart from that it is fitted with every optional extra you could possibly think of. I have been looking for a leather interior from the moment I bought it, but I just cannot find one anywhere. I have even considered buying the interior for a 5 door model and adapting it to fit my 3 door. Has anyone had any luck in sourcing a leather interior or know of one that might be available? I have tried all of the spares websites with still no luck.

Failing that, can anyone recommend a good upholsterer in the Midlands area? As the only other option I can see would be to pay someone to actually make a leather interior. I have had quotes of £800 for a complete top notch leather interior from a couple of firms.

The 2000 to 2006 range of Rav4's had leather seats has a dealer fit option, could be worth asking your local dealer if they can still do it for you :) .

Thanks for this. I will get in touch with my local dealer and see what they have to say. As it was a dealer option, I can understand why it is so rare to find one out there on the market. As I mentioned, I have been looking around just about every salvage yard in the UK that I can find on the internet over the past year and absolutly nothing has come up.

I will let you know how I get on...

"Custom leather programme for RAV4, will be available from March 2004 for the XT3 and XT4,the option includes soft grain leather of front and rear seats,inculuding perforated centre panel and embroidered RAV4 logo, also leather coverings for the door panel inserts.

Custom leather will be available in a wide variety of colours including Sky Blue,Yellow, Chilli Red, Tan and Bottle Green.

This option will cost £1150.00 for 3 door models and £1250.00 for 5 door"

Could well not be available anymore, maybe you can let us know .

Have spoken to the local toyota dealer and they said that this option is no longer available on my Rav. So, its back to the option of getting someone to do an aftermarket one or finding one in a scrapyard...

Can't recommend anyone, but I personally think this is probably a better option then trying to get a retro-fit from Toyota.

Before the RAV4 I had an HR-V with a custom Leather interior done by the previous owner and it was very good and always got lots of comments.

Advantage of going independant is you can get exactly the look you want, be it keeping a stock look with the upholsterer copying Toyota or putting your own identity on it - Two tone black and grey normally looks very classy IMO

Before I bought my particular RAV4 (XT3 model) I looked at a VX and just didn't like that Leather compared to the standard cloth seats - and I LOVE leather in cars (the RAV 4 is the first car in 10 years I haven't have leather in)

Haven't been on site much. Come on from time to time as my dads got a 52 Rav 4 D4D NRG. Its the three door and it has a leather interior from Toyota it was second hand from the dealer.

When my Dad bought the car the sales man said that they never offered it as an option on the three door and that they'd never had one with a leather interior to sell not even a new one. He could have been talking rubbish but if thats the case someone looks like they've gone to Toyota for a custom job and spent alot of money on it if they have

Mines a 2002 3 door NRG with leather as a factory option. I think it was £900 extra when new :D
