My 05 plate T3-X has never done it. Sounds like a wet carpet or somesuch to me!

New windscreeen lately perchance? or maybe a heater matrix leak? either way, not nice!!

I suddenly got condensation inside my Audi, and on cold mornings the ice would be INSIDE the car as well as outside... very strange!!!

I since learnt it is caused by a seal breech perhaps a window seal, or as somebody said if you have had the windscreen changed and the seal isn't sealing properly. Which means the elements are free to enter the inside of your vehicle. (meaning invisible mist/water vapour, not 'rain' in specific).

Annoying on my Audi as I was scrapping the ice not only on my front windshield, but also the insides of the windows.

However if the condensation starts AFTER you get into the car then it's your ventilation system set onto recirculation mode as mentioned above.

Thanks for all the info...

I have not had the windscreen changed...well its not been done whilst I have had the car...

As for the ventilation I always have it on external circulation as most times in the past my experience of re-circulating the air just causes the windows to steam up....

Might take it to MR T and ask them what is going on...

So if it is cold outside the car, then two humans get in, breathing and just generally giving off moisture and the windows are closed, would this not condensate on the windows whatever you tried to do to stop it? Its like breathing close to a window inside your house-no matter how warm it is inside there will always appear a mist.

The inside of my Avensis mists up, more so when I get in after walking through the rain. Once the heater is warmed through the mist will go. I suppose if your windows misted all the time, no matter how warm it was inside then this could be the filter thingy that can clog with leaves etc-I had mine replaced at the 20k service. I think its the filter near the glovebox, used for the ventilation system I think-not too up on the technical terms!

And no funny comments about humans in a car misting it up-I know what you are thinking! ;-)

This aint just a bit of misting...

When it was a bit cold over nigth the last few days when gettin in the car there is a big patch of condensation in the middle of the windscreen just below the rear view mirror area.

I will take me avensis to MR T next week and have a chat with them...

I have a 05 T2 Hatch. After it has been standing and the outside air temp has dropped, I get heavy internal condensation on the inside of the rear screen. I checked for wet items in the boot, also in the hollows at each the side of the boot expecting to find water. None found. Remains a mystery, especially as those rear hollows have flaps and drain holes.

I fitted rear parking sensors in the summer and took the opportunity to have a close look at the drains and they looked fine. No evidence on any water ever having been in there.

I rarely use recirc and if there is any damp, I use the aircon so idon''t think this has anything to do with how the car was last used before it stood.

Clean carefully and treat your window by anti-moisture and anti-static fluid.

I often use my antistatic cleaning fluid for LCD monitor....

After treating dont touch the glass at all (no any towels, dusters etc...).

Any dust (even not visible) initiate condensing around it if temperature is low (below dew point).

Moisture can be from sealings, coolant loose in cabin heater, but most probably it is just human initiated moisture (runboy is right about that and also about filter clogging. I changed mine each 15,000km, because in town we have alot of dust and filter become clogged before scheduled change on 30,000km ).

When heater is working, temperature inside is well above dew point and there are no condensing, but air can absorb alot of water (absorb capacity of air is depending from temperature).

When car is not running, temperature drops below dew point, air cannot keep water absorbed and condensing starts...

The other possibility is if you use your air conditioner for demusting....

After switching off the engine, aircon condenser is wet and some of this water evaporates back and enters trough ventilation....

Thus before swithcing off the car, i switch off the aircon and run for several minutes blower in higher flow settings, to dry up aircon condenser....

Hmm, I am getting it now in the Winter.

the inside of the windows is wet, looks like someone has been inside my car, breathing with hot takeways and steamed it up. There is more condensation on the rear hatch window

suggestion - check the drainage holes in the bottom of the doors. If these are bunged up with toyota's waxoyl or dirt then the water builds up in the doors and generates the condensation.
