Power Steering Failed

Anyone else know of any Verso power steering problems.?

I have been experiencing some loss of power when my 54 T3 first started in the morning and a bit of squealing. I put it down to the belt being slack. So I took it to the dealer. They said that they found a little bracket had broke, and they now had the parts on order. Fair enough? I asked if the car was OK to drive and they said, yeah fine, we will call you when your parts come in. That was Monday, and today, Friday I was so close to having a head on as my steering failed as I went round a corner. I mean I tried to round the corner, but the steering went heavy and straightened out... Luckily I wasn't going so fast and managed to stop up quickly.

But rather shaken I attempted to limp my car back to the house without incident. Two hours later I'm waiting for the dealer to call me back.

Shocking from the dealer, and could have been a nasty accident. I would take this up with Toyota customer support - they may not do anything but it is worth a try. Have never heard of this on the Verso, but worth looking out for now.

Thinking that this was a safety critical issue, I was just doing a google search to see which gov dept you should report it to.

Then I came across the latest Toyota recall for the Verso. Looks like yours is subject to a recall, the title of which is "Steering may fail" - !Removed! hell, given your experience, they are not kidding are they....

Dealer has fixed the fault. Waited two and a half hours for them to call back on friday. Then when they didn't, I called them again. They checked and the bits required had come in, so was booked in for 8:30 on Saturday morn. Finished the work by 9:15 so dealer came good in the end.

Steering feels like it should again. But I think it will be a while before I am completely confident in my Verso again.
