Hesitant Engine

When I start my car from cold it revs nicely like it should and drives like it should, if i start car with a warm engine it struggles to tick over and is on the verge of stalling, when I try to drive off while it is like this the engine feels like it is going to die nothing happens then all of a sudden off she goes. Afetr about 2-3mins its back to normal and ticking over nicely.

I'm leaning towards the automatic choke but cant understand why it works fine on a cold engine,

Anyone experienced anything like?

hi ya it wont have a automatic choke as such because its injection and will have a cold start, which just bring up the reves anyway! Try changing you engine temp sensor the one for the injection side (not the gauge) you can test it if you look on auto data it will show you how to do so hope that helps>

Hi,

Check your EGR valve. I had exactly the same problem. I swapped in a JDM ECU (these don't have EGR) and it went away. UK ECU back in and back it came. Removed EGR completely and it went away again.

Worth a try as it sounds very similar to mine, which was lean misfiring when restarted warm and this is a symptom of a problem within the EGR system.

Cheers

John
