Plug Leads - Help!

Hiya, I have a 1990 MR2 Turbo but the standard type MR2 plug leads dont fit.

I have tried all 3 types listed for the MR2 and none of them fit, they all seem too tall and protrude about an inch out of the rocked cover with not a hope of them ever sealing round the rocker cover.

Does anyone recognise this plug lead? Its a Toyota one but I dont know frow what vehicle?

It might be Celica, Corolla, Carina, other etc? I havent got a clue, theres no part numbers on the the lead and I dont know how on earth im going to replace them because I dont know what there from :(

so im hoping someone on here might recognise it?

Heres a pic:

Lengths on the right

what engine have you got? REv1, 2, 3 etc... no reason why the right plugs shouldn't fit. As far as I'm aware, the plugs are all the same (apart from thickness of leads), it's just the ends that connect to the dizzy that are diferent??

Im not sure exactly what rev the engine is, other than its a 3S-GTE one, its had quite a few engine mods when it got rebuilt several years back, but its like it has a short rocker cover. I will post a picture up later to see if it makes any sense, but standard MR2 ones dont fit and I tried all possible options.

The ends that connect to the dizzy are the same as standard and so it the dizzy cap.

Ive attached 2 Images, one of the engine which isnt that clear and the other of where the plug leads go. Ignore the orange lead, that was a temp measure.

rev1 engine. Dunno why the leads won't fit. Where did you get them from?? (the new ones)

I got my 2 different sets from TCB parts but they didnt fit, and Ive tried 3 different sets from Camberly Auto Factors, Ive tried the whole range as far as I know?

Ive run out of option now and I cant use my car till I get some that fit :crybaby:

get in touch with somewhere like fensport. Who are TCB ?? .... alot of people don't know sh*t when it comes to the mr2 turbo.

TCB are very good with toyota spares and very decent prices, theres a link to them in the Celica forum.

Fensport couldn help either, this was there response.....

"Hi Lawrence, I have just opened and measured all of our 8mm MR2 turbo and

even normally aspirated lead boxes trying to find a match. Where your

measurement is 90mm, our Magnecor leads which we have sold hundreds of to

early MR2T owners, are all around 112mm. I cannot explain what is going on

your end! Sorry I can't be of any more assistance."

I dont know whats going on!!! :(

Sell the car on eBay as a 'RARE' version of the turbo!

lol.

Well I have since stolen the plug leads from my receintly deceased Rover 220, they sorta fitted in an interesting way, but I am now mobile again :D

But still need to source some replacement ones, I will let you know what there from when I eventually find out.

Is that a Greddy turbo I can see? must be quite nippy!

Yep, its pushing out 370bhp, its quite interesting, at 4000rpm it just shoves you back in the seat & flys!! :yahoo: I love it.

Cheers for the suggestion Jimlad, I will give rogue systems a try tomorrow.

I don't know where guildford is tbh, but I would imagine there would be a jap/mr2 specialist somewhere near you that you could take the car along to?

Like I said, somewhere like rogue would be ideal.

PS, I thought my 280bhp mr2 was quick... that must feel rapid!! That's the only reason I would get rid of the supra and get a mr2 again, if it had some huge turbo on it! ... :D
