Over Reving

today my rev 1 decided to start over reving when pulluing off and during gear change

as i pulled off decided to give it a bit of of a good blast,

as i changed gear the revs just stayed stupidly high

basically 40mph and it was red lineing in second, normally i noticed it did 60 before it hit the red line in second

and, it just doesnt seem to have that pull anymore as i go though the gears.

its ok if i keep the speed low but as soon as i put my foot down the revs go high and the speed dosent

so any ideas what my problem is I'm not good at working on engins but any pointers would be good when i get her in a garage

thanks for any help.

had a feeling it be something like that :censor:

but I'm sure a friend of mine could get my clutch done a bit cheaper than £350

he's doing my timing belt for £180 just have a few words with him when she goes in for the belt he'll prob do that job at the same time (I love my little local garage)

After doing a clutch in an MR2 he wont be your friend much longer, my mechanic said it was the worst job ever and never wants to do it again.

my garage would do the belt for £90 if the belt is supplied by the customer. Me and two mates changed the gearbox on my old mr2.. that was a ****** (fair enough we were doing it with the car jacked in the air), but I can imagine how awkward a clutch would be to do!

lmao... yeah.

If it had come off I would have shot into the distance!! .... lol. Felt weird accelerating without any friction/moving anywhere.
