Gen 7 Alarm Problems

Hello everybody. This is my first post here.

2003 Euro spec Celica.

The alarm (Toyota Standard) is suddenly too sensitive. It seems to be worse in the first half hour after the engine is switched off. Every gust of wind or passing truck sets it off. Then it will generally settle down.

Has anybody any ideas before I bring it to the dealer or my neighbours burn it out ;)

I had this problem. When I mentioned it to the Dealer, they suggested that metal objects in the centre console can affect the sensitivity of the movement sensor (presumably by amplifying the signal). In my case there was a lot of loose change between the front seats. I didn't believe the Dealer but moving the change fixed the problem.

The control unit for the sensitivity is under the 'leccy windows switch, have a play with it. Its all Toyota will do, and charge you a small fortune for it! If you can't work out how to get to it, search for posts on Gen7 Stereo Removal, and you should get an answer - I've certainly posted it enough times...

The Alarm is definately a little twitchy. I eventually gave up, had it ripped out and replaced!
