Ok I have a standard double din toyota HU in at the moment...

I got a cubby box sent over that sits below a single din HU, so that should work out fine.

However, anyone know if I need a wiring conversion kit? if so what one?

Its a 1998 model, not sure if it differs from earlier models or not

To replace the existing headunit in an MR2 (assuming it's not got the 'active speaker system') then you need a wiring loom, the PC2-17-4, available from Halfords for around £11.50.

I also replaced my Toyota blanking plate with a DIN Pocket from Halfords for £29.95, although can be found on the web for a bit cheaper, it's the FP-11-01.

I do have the active speaker system...

I bout the £11.50 part to find it was the wrong one... so I had to order the one for the active speaker setup. It cost me £45 !!

what does the FP-11-00 Facia Adaptor do ? Does it basically cover one slot up so you don't have a great hole under your single din unit?

I take that the mentioned bit of kit works ok to convert jap models? :)
