Avensis Noise - Bearings ,gearbox ?

Hi guys,

Had my draftshaft bearings done a few weeks ago, but still seem to have a rattle noise when pulling off and when accelerating from a low speed in high gear. It happens all the time and doesn't disappear when the engine is warm. once moving the engine is fine and makes no noises.

Not sure if i had it before because the constant scrapping sound i had from worn shaft bearings was all i could hear before.

Also pretty sure it's not pinking as i'm using 99 ron super and also tried normal super and normal unleaded and there's no difference.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

You will find it is your front brake disc shield touching the brake disc. This is a common fault after drive shafts have been removed.

Just reach behind wheel & pull shield back out slightly. Once you have done this, check it by tapping it lightly.

thanks very much, i'll give it a try in the morning when i hope it won't be pouring with rain. if it's as easy as that i'll be chuffed to bits.

i've been mucking about for the past two 2 weeks trying to get a spanner long enough to change the alternator belt.

I wasn't sure what i was doing so i took both front wheels off to get a better look at the shields and sadly they didn't seem to be interfering with the discs and rotated the disc around 360 degrees to make sure. But on the passenger side i did seem to hear a noise that wasn't on the drivers side so something is up, but can't quite put my finger on it. Might it be related to the brake shoes ? it had a new set of discs and pads 6 months ago (less than 8k miles done).
