Hi, this is my first post. Me and BF are looking for our first car. We test drove the Aygo Sport on Saturday for a few hours and loved it :D We are having the dilemma of whether to buy new or not. We are looking to buy the Black if possible. Fell in love with it at the showroom!

Any views/advice on this? Cheers.

IMHO the Aygo hasn't been on the market long enough

to find "attractive" second hand ones. I had a look at

second hand Aygo's too last september, but the difference

in price between a new one and a low mileage secondhand

was such that I decided on an new one.

Especially as a new one still has THREE years of warranty...

And if you want a black one you're allmost bound to buy new as the

black ones have only been available for a couple of months yet...

It depends really on what saving your looking to make. I bought an Aygo for £1500 less than new price including options, it was less than 6 months old and had only 4K miles. THe way I see it £1500 can buy a lot of things.

I would go new - get the exact nodel and colour you want - plus you know exactly what has happened to the car and you get that 'I've got a brand new car feeling' (for a day or so !).

Check the FAQ on this site for prices to pay etc.

Oh and welcome

Thanks for all the responses, think we probably will buy new. Really looking forward to ordering it! Hope the waiting time isn't too long.... :)

I would also agree with the view 'Buy new if you can afford it' because a lot of those nearly new Aygo's that are on sale on the garage forecourts are mainly ex demos and courtesy cars. You know as well as I do they get hammered and thrashed about in their short time of ownership :disgust:

I suppose it alll depends on the individual and the trade off between saving 1500 quid or buying a new car with the reassurance you will be the first true driver and feel safe in the knowledge that it's engine, in particular- hasn't been abused during the break in period.

Ex demo prices seem to have been 'realigned' by the dealers. When we started looking they were available for £6,500 ish with a few thousand on the clock. Now there is very little available for less than £7,500. If this is what we are looking at paying we won't be having an Aygo sitting in our drive after Christmas.

They are only reacting to the market and of course will sell for the highest price possible. There are some on Autotrader, may be worth a look.

Seems that most people are pretty positive about the model, so I guess used prices will stay up for a while until there is some serious volume in the second hand market.

People staring at my car is starting to creep me out a bit now, though :o

My good mate decided to get an Aygo coz I have one. Anyway, just gotta Black on in 2 days after ordering it and for 7000 delivered full tank and mats.

Posted

Wow, 7000 is a really good price. Must be a slow month for showrooms! 2 days is good delivery time too. I was imagining I would have to wait weeks for one. BF is sorting finances before we go back. I'll let you know when we've ordered it :yahoo: Just got to decide between getting the Black or the Sport in Carbon Quartz!!

I got a £1000 discount when I bought my wife's Aygo. :)

Toyota's are reputed to have a fair amount of play in the prices of their vehicles although not sure how true this is, as this time of year when the industry is quiet you should be able to get some good discounts as everybody is fighting for business :D

Best of luck...

I got like £500 off, for buying a 'sport' instead of an 'plus' i know i the sport cost more but i was happy cos its the model i wanted but didnt really feel the need to pay more for only a few more stuff but im glad i got the sport now, imo the sport is the best model, i know you dont need stuff like alloys, fog light and a rev counter but just stuff like that really says things to me. Always think fog lights looks smart as out on car, iv only ever had them on once (in fog) but they look on or off.

Black wasnt avalibe when i got mine in January but TBH i hate the look of black cars and for what i would of had to pay for it, i would of wanted all the gear from the sport.

Funny; I was planning on buying a Charcoal Grey Sport with intentions to try and sell/swap

the bumper for one without forgligts as I personally HATE the look of the lights on a "Sport".

I ended up buying a "Black" as I needed it FAST and it had everything I wanted,

including alloys (which I like better that the "Sport" ones) and EXcluding foglights...

And now that I've seen a Charcoal Grey next to my Midnight Black I'm glad I did!

But to each his own I guess...

PS. I got €600 (about £400) off of the price (6%) plus a bezel for my DIN-sized radio :P

Cool, you got a good deal then, just depends what you like really, I recon fog lights look smart on anycar but other people dont, can see where u come from like they do stick out abit.

They do look better on other cars where they just have like a mesh over the hole but thats not the case here.

Don't get me wrong; I DO like Foglights, just not the setup on the "sport".

The ones you can get as part of a TTE-grille look superb, but cost to much for me...

How much are them ones? they do look really nice.

I know what u mean about the sport alloys, the Aygo's dont suit 5 sporks but then again the standard alloys are too small for my likeing, theys why i changed for sum 10 spork 15's and i have more rubber on the ground now so bit better handleing puts the power down abit better too, dont wheel spin everytime it rains anymore now.

My Dealer (in The Netherlands) gave me a

quote of € 474,-- including fitment and VAT.

That's roughly £320, which I find a bit steep for something

you can't even use legally for over 99% of the time...

So now I'm saving up for fitting a Sunroof, as I miss

the glass over my head which I had on my Nissan 100NX

"Toyota's are reputed to have a fair amount of play in the prices of their vehicles although not sure how true this is, as this time of year when the industry is quiet you should be able to get some good discounts as everybody is fighting for business"

Went to Toyota dealers on Saturday with a view to buying a new Aygo. As well as wanting silly money for high mileage ex demos they are very unwilling to do a deal on a new one. On a 5 door + with aircon max discount was £250. APR on the loan was horrific 12.9%. Although if we didn't take the 'free' insurance it came down to a more sensible 5.8% - but with their finance they want 'document fees' of £230 and no these can't be reduced. A bank loan is cheaper and the £230 saved on doc fees will more than cover one year's insurance.

We have ordered one from an internet broker which will be from a UK Toyota dealer (could be the one we went to on Saturday) and we have saved £800.

Thanks for the info. We're going along to the garage tomorrow to see what 'crazy' deal they will do us. The demo has done 8000 miles and has no air con like we wanted, so we'll see what they say. Can I ask what internet broker you used? What are the delivery times like? :help:

Do your homework on what the price should be for the car you are looking at. Last week Sheffield Toyota had a 12 month old non aircon '+' 5 door with 5,000 miles on their books up for £6,500 which is near to book price - we enquired, but it had sold.

Broker we have used is drivethedeal.com

We've looked on there and can save £650 on a new + version with air con plus road tax, VED, delivery, full warranty etc which the dealer wasn't offering, so think we'll be ordering a new one from there tonight, which is very exciting!! Think we'll go for the red and save some more money. Thanks for the advice.

We went for red too. Metallic is nice, but the flat red suits the car and aircon is more useful than a sparkly paint finish. My wife's previous car was a red smart so she's used to it!

Hey everyone, just to update you, we have today bought a demo- 5 door Sport in Carbon Quartz, had decided on a new one from tinternet but saw the demo had been reduced by £1000 so couldn't really refuse! Think we got car for cost price. Very happy now! Car should be ready by Friday, yay! :yahoo: Thanks for all the advice everyone, glad to be part of the Aygo club now:) (Will post a pic when we get car)
