New Tyres Needed

I had Bridgestones on mine and they were OK. Swapped them for Toyo 330s and they were OK too... (couldn't tell any major difference).

Then I replaced them with a Uniroyal 680 and they were markedly better than either of the other two. A lovely tyre.

I'm ready for changing now. I'm not sure whether to go with Uniroyal 680s again or go with the results of the AutoExpress Tyre Test and pick either Vredestein T-Trac or Conti EvoContact 3.....

Anyone any experience of either of these? They both look to have similar tread....

Only just joined so Hello everyone

I realise this is resurecting an oldish thread now but after months of complaining about the standard of tyres (Eurotours if anyone has hear of them?) I bought my Yaris with (3 Years/20k miles ago). I've finally decided to bite the bullet and buy some new ones.

Only got the standard 14" wheels on my car (175/65/R14/82T) so I can't fit the Toyo TR1s everyone seemed to like in an even older thread.

Done some searching about and it now seems Toyo do a tyre that fits with the 330s here

Toyo

Proxes will also fit now any reason (other than cost) not to go for a higher load/speed and stick Proxes on?

Anyone tried it yet or should I go with the safe Bridgestone 330 Evo option?

Not really too bothered about wear(within reason)

Thanks

Depends on the driving style. I found no problems with the Bridgestones, but them I wasn't alwasy chucking it around. When I did require grip though, it was there. Lasted well too, and probably longer than the toyo's will.

Still, the Toyo's are an excellent tyre and offer superb grip.

Neverheard of Eurotours - did you get the car from new, as they're not standard tyres...

Got the car December 2003 it's a 99 Yaris and I'm pretty sure the Eurotours are cheap replacements.

Eurotours seem to be long lasting though, just had a 3rd service on the car now in December. Everytime a different mechanic from the garage has commented "You'll probably need to look at changing them after Christmas" they still have plenty of tread left.

I'm now on my third set of rears (including the original Bridgestones they came with) due to nails going through them. Currently my second set of Michellin E3A's (I think) can't really report much with them as they are on the rear.

I've considered swapping them round but I really think this current set of fronts need to go (same problems some of you have with the Goodyears with lots of wheelspin.

Toyo's are tempting me so is it worth a risk on the Proxes (175/65/R14/82H) or the 330s at the proper speed rating?

Looks like I'll have to look into the Uniroyals now allthought I haven't noticed them on any site yet.

I dont think speed rating means much unless your car goes over specified speed rating as on the back of mine i have Z's which is over 149mph and they were fitted by toyota!

Those were the main two sites I was checking. The Toyo CF1 Proxes are only on Blackcircles.com £48.03 (fitted)

Did a quick check on speed rating too. Apparently they are likely to be softer the higher the rating so they'll wear quicker.

Probably order a couple by the end of next week. Can't seem to find anyone selling Uniroyals btw

Plenty of Uniroyals on mytyres.co.uk....

There are the 680s I used in the standard 175/65 r 14 size and they also have the next model up, the 550 in 185/60 r 14s which are a straight fit too.....
