Ok, here is the dilema, having had my 03 plate MR2 for 2 months (and absolutly loving it) I now want to start modding it (nothing too serious to start with due to lack of funds), I was going to start with the air intake.

So the BIG question is:

1.) Do I stick with the normal air intake but change the filter for a Green cotton (other suggestions welcome)?

2.) Go for an induction kit (but after seeing the post from darkcyde it put me off a bit) and if so how on earth do you route it so that it keeps the cold air feed / where does it go inside the wing ?

3.) Leave it as it is and buy something else instead (again suggestions welcome) ?

Looking forward to lots of replies please !!

Matt :help:

With regards to the air filter question, stick to the standard setup but with an after market panel filter.

The cone filters will draw in too much hot air from the engine.

With regards to changing cars... The question is... what do you want from a car? Power.. so much so you want to scare yourself?

Welcome to the club by the way

If you want a reasonable bang for buck’s mod why don’t you go for a chip?

I run one in mine and the throttle response as well as top end torque has noticeably improved, unfortunately I lost a bit of this after getting my quad exhaust fitted but it should improve if I get the chip re –mapped. ;)

I know they aren’t that cheap (about £500) but it is a definite improvement over standard.

Hi.. Go for a Dastek Unichip.. i got mine up here in Scotland from Dastek in Dalgety Bay in Fife.. There are Dealers all over the Uk.. if you give them a call on 0845 345 4045 they should be able to put you in contact with the closest official retailer to you.

Don't bother with an induction kit, they do draw in too much hot air (so i'm led to believe) i have added a TRD panel filter.. can't feel much difference in performance, but it has better filtration than the standard filter.

There are a few options for exhausts.. i got the Magnex system.. it gave me an extra 5BHP.. and looks cool too.
