T3x Radio Problem

I’ve noticed over the past couple of days a break in the transmission from the radio. Symptoms are:

- it lasts for a split second

- affects AM and FM broadcasts

- on FM the station name is very briefly replaced by the frequency number and then reverts back

- CD and tape are fine

Has anyone encountered similar issues, or know of the cause and of the fix?

I did wonder if it was weather related (been very blustery lately) but then my other car seems fine.

Any ideas please?

Is it the retune that RDS does as it switches frequencies? Mine seems to have a noticable blip in sound occasionally and I have always presumed it is a naff RDS implementation (never noticed it as much before on other cars with RDS). The fact that it tells you the (new) frequency may back that up (I've never glanced at mine when the reception flutters so can't say if mine does it).

It sounds feasible that it will be more noticable when weather conditions and, thus, reception conditions are poor. That retuning effect wouldn't impact AM though, only FM.

It does seem that the radio is trying to retune itself (even on AM). Today for example whilst listening to Five Live and/or Talksport on AM the radio retuned itself off the set frequency and I had to manually retune it back. It seems to be getting worse now and I might be tempted to take it to Mr T in the New Year.

I get interference when heated rear windscreen is on but don't think that affects am radio.
