T Sport Lift

Correct me if I am wrong on this. The tsport lift is noticeable due to the second air intake on the rear of the airbox opening up above 6200rpm. I presume the compressor does not have this due to forced induction? When i removed my snorkel pipe i forgot to connect back up the vacuum pipe to the secondary air intake. There was a lot of induction roar which sounded fab and the lift was hardly noticeable. Obviously when connected back up the lift was more apparent at 6200 plus.

Just an idea which i may try is to block off the vacuum pipe and run my cts to see what performance gain can be had. I know it will take few miles as the cts does not like being messed with and takes a few miles to adjust.

The lift happens when the high cam profile is actuated by hydraulics (oil pressure), as far as i know its nothing to do with air intakes.

I spoke to a mechhie and he said people had their cars dashboard lighting up like a christmas tree cos they forgot to connect the vac pipe. I dont know enough about it really, but i wouldnt say its advisable.

The change to the higher lift obviously increases the performance.

However the noise I refer to is the induction note. Notice the change in 5th or 6 at 6200 rpm. You can hear the change but at these speeds not notice the performance. Also the vacuum pipe would need blocking off with a screw etc thus no problems with the vsc lights coming on. the effect would be very similar to fitting a 57i or typhoon. i have just been and tried it as per the above, great induction note no lights!

the reason for the lift is to leave the intake and exhaust valves open for longer at higher RPM. Nothing to do with air intakes.

of course you are losing power when you forgot to put that vacuum pipe back on is cos you have a leak it is not induction roar is more of a loud hiss ,there is no point in blocking that vacuum pipe because when you put the pipe back in to the airbox where it suppose to go it is as good as seal .

you are right it has nothing to do with lift to be fair to him he didn't said the lift has anything to do with air intakes , he was just saying the the lift were weaker when the pipe are off hence he has a leak.

tsportkid stop wasting your time with these little test please just go buy a panel filter or get full induction kit.

pulla the k&n typhoon kit are good as it had show real hp gain on the cts but it is really the best ?

the intake system your thinking of is the TVIS. this is no longer availiable and has been replaced by VVT-I (or VVTL-i in the cts)this is variable valve timing or in the cace of the CTS variable valve timing and lift.

The funny thing is I tried the...

stock airbox

vs the intake snorkely removed

vs the intake snorkely removed and the valve at the back of the airbox disconnected

vs an aftermarket induction kit (blitz)

the stock airbox with the snorkel removed and the valve disconnected was pretty much identical to the aftermarket induction kit, this wasnt a dyno test, but an uphill climb using markers, timing the runs and noting the speeds, both were vastly better than the stock system left as it comes.... I dont beleive the flap at the back of the airbox was put in for anything other than smoothness and quietness, imo

Zuban you are absolutely correct. The flap at the rear only opens above 6200 rpm. You can hear it opening. It is designed purely to keep the car quiet at lower speeds and opens when the engine is in lift mode

T128 i take it you are a not a mechanic, why are you telling me to stop wasting my time. I know exactly what I am doing and what results I can get

Just for info, the vacuum pipe to my air flap was not there so it is always open.

It's not loose, just no sign of it.

At the dealers we checked an '05 Compressor and it was fitted but on an '06 (like mine) it was not.

Maybe they did that to get more air in after the earlier ones showed restriction ;)
