hi guys and girls.

firstly id like to say this forum is wonderful and thanks to the moderators....

I am about to purchase a previa its 1996 N reg and i noticed the following:

1) both brake lights not working and fuse/bulbs ok. seller reckons its the brake switch that needs replacing... is this correct?

2) on idle when the heater was put on full power and hot, it blowed out air through vents, but when foot was pressed on the accelerator the air seemed to come out faster when engine was under load... is this a potential problem or is it normal? i have had two previas before this and have never noticed this.

please advise so i can buy with confidence.

thank you all for reading my post and i look forward to being part of the forum.

Hi mate,

Welcome to TOC

The brake light issue sounds could be a number of things......switch, bad earth etc. Either way it doesn't sound like it'll be tricky or expensive to sort out.

Not sure about the heater thing, but again it doesn't sound like anything major.

It could be that the Battery is a bit low, so the blower is running slightly slower than usual, then when you rev the engine and the alternator boosts the charge it'll speed up a touch. Any good Auto Electrician could sort these two problems out quickly and cheaply.

Good luck with the purchase

cheers rich, what you say makes sense, its a shame that so many cars have hidden suprises nowadays otherwise this previa has full toyota history and is one owner from new.

will highly consider it and make the guy an offer,
