Hello,

Up till last week my car sounded fine. Then I noticed when I drive it gets louder as I drive moving up the gears. I got car serviced but noise is still there. Its sound like a diesel car now nd its very annoying. I would love some help with this. I dont have much knowledge with cars.

No expert myself, but in a similar situation would recommend at least getting a diagmosis from Toyota and then researching the subject once you have something to go on. If it's easy to diagnose then this shouldn't cost you a penny. I had a noise which was a scraping sound whenever in gear, which was due to worn driveshaft bearings and once Toyota dignosed this i was able to shop around a bit and make sure i was able to ask the right questions when getting alternative quotes. in the end i paid £375 instead of £770 quoted by Toyota.

1. Does it make any noise when stationary?

If it does then it's not likely to be something in the drive-shafts

2. Does it make the noise at all in neutral?

If it does it could either be the gearbox or engine

3. Does the noise go away if the clutch is in but you rev the engine?

If the noise stays then it'll be something in the engine, If it goes it'll be something in the gearbox

From the description so far my guess is something with the engine that's load related but obviously very difficult to diagnose without hearing and getting my head under the bonnet

Hi,

No noise when stationary

Not in neutral

I only notice when I start to drive and especially in 4th and 5th gear. Normally it is quiet in 5th but now it is annoying.

Thanks

Pablo
