Warning Symbol

Hi Group

My son has a Toyota Yaris W reg. done around 35000 miles and has been serviced regulary. He rang me to say the warning symbol. the one showing the engine and fan belt, was showing with the dreaded message Take to Your Toyota dealer. Does anyone know what this is likely to be, what are the possibilites? He tell me the oil is ok and that underneath the bonnet seems normal. I realise this is a long shot but wondered if anyone had a clue?

Thanks to you all

Cheers

it's the engine warning light so it could be many things, take it to your dealer and they'll plug it in and find out what's wrong.

Just check the basics... coolant, oil, air filter element then re-set the ECU (disconnect negative Battery terminal for 10mins) and then if it comes back on it's worth a visit to toyota. If it's just a blip, then the £60 toyota charge to look at it is wasted.

£35 at my dealer. I heard the service woman telling another customer and was itching to say to try resetting the ecu and see it it was a passing fad or an actual problem.

Hope that's all it is
