Hi all,

Does anybody here know the location of the following:

1. Thermostat

2. Water temp sensor

I understand that the thermostat might be in the L shaped housing next to the head (the one wich has a rubber hose from radiator) but there are 3 sensors screwed into it, any ideas what these might be???

TIA

Nice, look forward to it.

Also considering the GEN 4 owners are now in short supply hows the GT doing in terms of fuel consumption?

TIA

Erratic, was doing 24mpg, then had some work done, dropped to 18mpg, looking better at the mo around 21-22mpg.

Bugger, can't find my manual. I'll have a look around and if i find it i'll post the info!

Zilli,

Im getting around 145 miles out of 20 quid, but thats just as it hits the reserve.

Its an AUTO and that's with current fuel prices and economical foot/pedal play :-)

Any luck with those sensors?

TIA

Not as of yet bud, mine's an auto too!

Does yours randomly change down when you've been doing a steady 60mph at around 2500-3000rpm to possibly 3rd and revs to 4500, and then refuses to change back up even at 7000rpm?

It did just before I took ownership from a relative.

He told me it did it several times, apparantely its common on autos and mostly caused due to low auto trans fluid in the gear box.

The dipstick is self explanatory, COLD/HOT. check level before starting up and then once its idling......

Mines due for a full flush as its proabably never been changed and now at 122K.

NB: Mines red also, what year is yours?

Cool mines a late 89/90.

Ok best thing to do is to top it up so that it reaches the HOt level on the stick, dont worry do it whilst the engine is running as its the recommended method according to almost everyon o've asked.

Once your happy, test it out and should sort your problem out.

Yeh, I concluded that the non Turbo 4WD dont have one, if you find it please let me know as its another key location of maintenance.

I don't know if you might get the same problem, But while I lived in the states I had an old 72 dodge pick-up. It was a 2.6 I think but it was auto and if you have too much fluid in the tranny you can get the same problems.. I had to drain a quart out of mine for it to run right... Just a thought...

Zilli,

brake caliper, known issues they tend to play up, im wondering if my vibration is something to do with faulty pads or something around that area.

Hey, dont worry about the stereo scenario, had it sorted in the end, just regret not having taken any snaps myself.

Dude, have u ever located the differential on these cars and its fluid location? Im still not convinced that these GT's actucally have one???

To be honest I haven't mate... I know I had a hell of a job finding the fluid level in the gearbox... Was told it was part of the engine oil, which made no sense to me... Had to get my local dealer to show me in the end... As yours is an auto.... I really have no clue.... I don't even know anyone with an auto at the moment.. Mind you I think there are only three Gen4 s on the island... Sorry dude..
