Bit of a scary though now that the weather is so cold and there is ice all over the roads. This is my first winter driving and so far its going horrible!

iv got 195/45/15 tyres on, they arnt big brand tyres so might think about buying some new ones cos every time i seem to pull away im always wheel-spinning same when i take sharp corners too. It horrible if i have to pull away fast cos they just spin and dont grip at all.

Just today i stopped on an ice road and my wheels locked and i skidded forward for like a meter. Dunno if anyone else is finding that the car just dosnt proform in the ice but i didnt think itd be that bad.

Also think sumit is up with my fog lights cos they seem to have sumit behind the glass (seems to be sum sort of cloudy looking liquid or gas or sumit) its probs nout thou.

Trouble is that if you put wider rubber on the car the grip is better in the dry but worse in slippery conditions because there is less pressure on the rubber to melt ice or displace water.

Do you still have the stock 155s?

Swap the wide stuff for skinny standard fit originals and winter tyres and you'll be sorted.

In his first post Matty states to have 195/45/15 tyres on, so I guess not :P

yea i do still have the toyota alloys with the 155's but the 2 front tyres are bauld, dunno if its worth buying new ones just for the winter...

Mind ill probs wish i did when i skid off into a lamp post.

:) Hi i think it is just getting familiar to driving on ice or snow, no matter how bad ones tires are. Of course high inclines may be diffrent matter. :help: Less winter weather one have, the less practice is get. For me it seems to mistakes happens more in good traction in summer because too much trust on grip.

but the 2 front tyres are bauld

Best you get them changed pretty quick then.....................not just for your own good but for all the other road users.....................it might not just be a lampost that you hit

I'd either buy some decent 195s.. ie a good brand of tyre which will cost you no doubt.

What are you running at the mo?

Or buy some decent 155s to replace your bald tyres. Tbh 195s are way overtyred for the car really.

Can you get some decent 155/165 on a larger radius wheel than stock? I think that would be best, then you could have the low profile but still get grip.

The Aygo doesn't really need much rubber, it's just that the stock tyres are too tall and flop during heavy cornering.

Well you will get some sidewall movement with the stock tyres, but thats no bad thing as it gives more progressiveness. Not sure what is available in stock sizes. What is the OEM tyre?
