Turbo Over Boosting

ive recently had my 1991 gt4 on ascanner and my temp senser went and still is but it come up saying my turbo was over boosting, can anyone let me no if this is a bad thing?? e-mail sneakykeith@hotmail.co.uk

Depends if it's still doing it. When an error state occurs the ecu stores the error code in the memory and it doesn't clear from the memory until the ECU is reset (Disconnect Battery cable) The fault condition i.e. overboost might only have happened once for a small period by until you reset the ecu the code will still show when you check for error codes.

Best bet is reset the ecu then give it a week and check for error codes again :thumbsup:

Oh and you'd know if it had overboosted when you where in the car the fuel cut feels not to dissimilar to hitting a wall if it happens when on full throttle...

yea it throws me back into the seat when i accelarate and its only been doing it lately and the standered boost gauge needle goes rite of the gauge. can i reset the ecu witout dissconecting the Battery?

Have you got an aftermarket boost gauge or boost controller. The stock gauge is pants and really only tells you if the car is on boost or not.

If you don't have a proper boost gauge I'd suggest you get one and get it plumbed in and find out what boost your actually running.

If everything is standard at the moment and it's still overboosting then you might have a split in the VSV hose or such like which is causing the boost to rise above normal levels...

i do have a turbo timer and boost gauge just aint got no1 to fit it for me yet but there aint no boost control or nothing. to reset the ecu can i take afuse out and if so witch one but i have no writing on the fuse box saying whats what
