i have just bought some cdx alloys for my 98 avensis and they came with tyres 195/50/15....usually the car was on 195/60/15. will it make any difference?

Your car is 19.5mm lower now with the 195/50/15 tyres (the tyre diameter is 39mm smaller in total). This makes an error of almost 7% at your speed indicater. If 195/60/15 was the original size i think this will not be allowed by law (at least not in Holland). I also think it doesn't look very good also. My original 195/60/15 tyres are already a bit small for the big wheel arches. I would replace them if they were mine.

You will need to get the tracking checked as well as the angle of the track rod end will have changed relative to the tracking arm at the normal ride height. you will be scrubbing tyre slightly and wasting fuel.

(lower angle of attack = longer distance between track arm and end of steering rack = toe in if track rod end behind king pins or toe out if forward of king pins)

195/50x15's are too small.. and will look out of place. Put your 195/60's on, or if you want to go to a wider tyre get a set of 205/55x15's.. :thumbsup:
