depends on what you mean by oddball!

i think yours is a very rare one rickers!

mine has to be in the league somewhere!

The Sera's are quite rare, also those wierd looking Toyota MPV thingys with stupid transformers style bodykits must be quite rare!! I think there was one @ JAE? Did anyone get a pic of it?

Posted

what bout them TATA 4*4 thingies fro India? what are they all about?

Posted

i have seen loads of seras

they are even listed on some of the insurers websites... you never see Crown, MarkII or Windom now!

Posted

most people rebadge there windoms es's i thought, have seen a couple

Posted

They are fairly rare compared to MX-5 and MR-2 imports...

You see Sera 1600's listed on insurance databases. I've never seen one of those...

Posted

on Direct line it is

Posted

hang on.. thats for a

TOYOTA SERA 1.5 (90-94) AUTO

wow.. thats expensive too £350.. cripes... same price as a celica 20.gt

Posted

Special body y'see - everything damaged in an impact apart from side repeaters is unique to the Sera.

However, running costs is somewhat cheaper...

The direct line website is wrong, Seras were made until December 1995...

By oddball i mean a car which hasn't got a european equivalent, like mine :P

Steve is correct in stating that mine is quite rare, the previous owner reckoned that there are about 80 of these in the UK, but I think this number is much lower i reckon, maybe as low as 1 :o .

I was hoping to see another like mine, but nothing turned up. :crybaby::crybaby::crybaby:

I know of one other person with a windom, not sure if it is rebadged :afro:

Sera is a good one too, don't know that much about it though

which insurance companies do you use, even tesco won't quote becaus eit is not in the database :censor: :censor: :censor: , i'm with direct line a the moment, but these are the only ones that can quote and allthough the quote is quite good (£300) I want another company for if DL quit or so.

they dont care about mods as long as you can prove it and dont car about points as long as you havent been banned in 5 years...

Currens are rare in uk. Have you tried adrian flux? I'm with them and they do most imports Jap and US.

had a ring round as usual, but only direct line would insure it. hadn't thought of fluxy though. But as direct line lowered yhe price by £8 to £292, i went with them again. :group-cuddles:

is any of the levin, curren or sera drivers coming to the haynes meet in september :meet:

as i am intersted in them now. can't remember seeing any of these at the JAE (saturday), but i'm sure i missed it because it was in the shadow of the rear wings of all the max-power muppets

Grey imports are not a new phenomenon.

I own a 1977 Celica TA40 GTV - The car was built in very small numbers for the Japanese market only - I've spent a lot of time talking to people around the world and so far there are no other examples. The car was imported by Toyota GB in 1982 along with a TA45 GT Rally, which was last heard of in the West Midlands, and apart from a coupe in Wales is the only example I know of.

Somewhere at the back of my store is a 1976 TE35 Levin, built in Japan to compete in the RAC and campaigned at least twice in the late seventies...

Any information on any of those would be very welcome....

When I bought mine, I sort of went with my gut feeling, the person I bought it from didn't know anything - thought it was a 1.9 ltr model- as it turned out it was a 2.0 straight 6 , nice smooth engine.

I just typed in the first digits from my VIN (GX81) in to a search engine (see below) and found all the info I wanted.

www.vinden.nl

hope this helps :bookworm:
